PDX to Skamania Lodge: PNW Pawn Conference Travel Guide
Plan your trip from Portland Airport to Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Washington, with rental-car, booked-transfer and return-trip advice for the 2027 PNW Pawn Conference.

The trip at a glance
The 2027 PNW Pawn Conference is announced for April 16–18, 2027 at Skamania Lodge, 1131 SW Skamania Lodge Way, Stevenson, WA 98648. Fly into Portland International Airport (PDX), then arrange the drive into the Columbia River Gorge. The lodge is in Washington, across the Columbia River from Oregon.
Our practical recommendation: reserve a rental car if you want flexibility, or book both airport transfers before leaving home. This is a rural resort trip. A successful app-based ride from the airport does not establish that a driver will be available for your return.
Choose your ground transportation
Rental car: useful for attendees sharing a vehicle, staying elsewhere, or adding sightseeing. Compare the complete cost: rental, fuel, parking, any bridge tolls and rental-company toll administration. The lodge’s current FAQ lists parking at $15 plus tax per night; confirm the rate and whether your conference booking changes that charge. Do not rely on older event pages that describe parking as included.
Booked transfer: a sensible option if you will stay at the lodge throughout the event. Request a written round-trip quote with flight monitoring, waiting time, cancellation terms and a confirmed Sunday pickup. Waterfall Shuttle advertises PDX–Skamania group transfers; its group offer is not a public, turn-up-and-ride airport bus. Ask whether your party size and flight times qualify, and compare another quote recommended by the lodge.
Hotel shuttle: the lodge explicitly says it does not provide airport shuttles. Local shuttle help is subject to availability. No PNW Conference airport shuttle was confirmed for this guide; only use one after the organizer publishes actual booking details.
How long to allow for the drive
Waterfall Shuttle describes the airport journey as about 41 miles and 50 minutes. Treat that as an indicative road journey, not the time from touchdown to conference registration. Add baggage collection, the rental counter or pickup meeting, traffic and any weather delay. An arrival the previous evening can be more comfortable than planning to step straight from a flight into the first session.
Use live navigation for your travel date and check Washington road conditions and Oregon TripCheck. Save the full lodge address offline. Do not substitute a generic map search for “Skamania,” which can send you toward another location in the county.
Can you do it on public transit?
Investigate it only if you have a flexible itinerary and confirm every connection. Skamania County’s transit information describes Monday–Friday service, with holiday and disruption exceptions. Seasonal schedules elsewhere online should not be assumed to apply in April 2027.
The conference finishes on Sunday, April 18. Do not book your flight assuming there will be a Sunday county-bus connection to PDX. Ask the transit office at 509-427-3990 about the travel date, airport-side connections, final stop and access from that stop to the lodge. If the complete journey cannot be confirmed, reserve another option. A bus serving Stevenson is not automatically a door-to-door lodge service.
Rooms, meals and accessibility
The organizer’s page still says hotel booking information is coming soon. Watch for the official group link and check its cancellation terms before choosing a nonrefundable alternative. Staying at the lodge reduces daily transportation planning. If you stay elsewhere, price and arrange each evening’s return as well as the morning arrival.
The lodge lists on-site dining, including Cascade Dining Room and River Rock. Check actual service hours around the event program and reserve dinner where advised. For accessibility, contact the lodge about the specific guestroom, meeting-room route and entrance you need. Separately ask your driver about step-free boarding, mobility-device dimensions and securement; a standard van reservation does not confirm an accessible vehicle.
Make the return trip part of your booking
Work backward from your airline’s recommended airport arrival time. Include driving, a traffic buffer, any fuel stop and rental return. Keep the driver’s contact details and written pickup confirmation accessible. Before choosing a Sunday flight, verify when the final session actually ends.
