Miami / Airport transfers
Miami Airport to Miami BeachCheapest, fastest and easiest options
Compare Route 150, taxis, ride apps and private transfers. Choose the option that works for your hotel’s location, luggage and arrival time.

01 / Quick answer
Take Route 150 for value. A car for the door.
The free MIA Mover connects the terminal to Miami Airport Station, where Route 150 continues to Miami Beach. A taxi, ride app or prebooked transfer can remove the station change and final walk.
MIA Mover + Route 150
The regular bus fare is $2.25 per person. This is the strongest budget option when your hotel is near the route and you can manage the terminal connection and final street walk.
Taxi or ride app
A direct car usually saves the station transfer and bus wait. The price and travel time depend on your hotel, traffic, vehicle and current demand.
Private transfer
Choose a vehicle and meeting plan for your group before flying. Confirm luggage capacity, any child seat or accessibility needs, and the waiting terms for a delayed flight.
What we would choose
We would choose Route 150 for a hotel close to its corridor during normal service hours, with manageable bags. For a late arrival, several large cases or a hotel far from the bus, we would compare a direct taxi or ride-app quote. A group should compare the total fare and the size of vehicle it actually needs.
02 / At a glance
Compare the journey all the way to your hotel.
Bus timetables start at Miami Airport Station, not at baggage claim. Include the terminal walk, MIA Mover, bus wait and final walk when weighing the saving.
| Best for / route | Price guidance | Planning time | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
Cheapest MIA Mover + Route 150 | $2.25 per person; MIA Mover is free | Allow roughly 45–90 minutes to the hotel as a planning estimate | Station connection, bus wait and final walk |
Fastest for most arrivals Licensed taxi or ride app | Taxi meter and applicable charges, or a live app quote | Traffic- and destination-dependent | Cost can increase with congestion or demand |
Easiest planned arrival Prebooked private transfer | Live quote for the agreed vehicle and destination | Traffic- and destination-dependent | Usually costs more than the bus |
Groups with cases Suitably sized taxi, ride-app vehicle or transfer | Compare one complete vehicle price; some large taxis carry a surcharge | Traffic-dependent, plus pickup time | Confirm that all passengers and bags fit |
03 / MIA Mover + Route 150
The bus leaves from the transit station.
Route 150 Miami Beach Airport Express starts at Miami Airport Station, part of the Miami Intermodal Center. Use the free MIA Mover to get there from the airline terminal.
From baggage claim to the bus
- After collecting your luggage, follow the public-transportation and MIA Mover signs to Level 3.
- Use the moving walkways toward the MIA Mover station between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages.
- Ride the free MIA Mover to Miami Airport Station at the Miami Intermodal Center.
- Go to the ground-level bus bays on the west side of the station and check the current signs.
- Board Route 150 Miami Beach Airport Express toward Miami Beach.
- Get off at the stop nearest your hotel’s actual address. Confirm the final walk before boarding.

Check the route, then the live arrival.
Route 150 does not pick up at the terminal curb. Its airport boarding point is at the transit station reached by the MIA Mover. Older directions through Earlington Heights do not describe the current Route 150 boarding route.
Check the current timetable for the bus time from Miami Airport Station to your chosen Miami Beach stop. That covers the bus ride only. Add the MIA Mover connection, waiting and your final walk.
04 / Fares & payment
One fare, with a separate payment method for each rider.
The regular Metrobus fare is $2.25. Miami-Dade Transit lists cash, EASY Card, EASY Ticket, mobile tickets in its GO app and supported contactless payments.
The simplest visitor payment
A supported contactless bank card or mobile wallet is usually convenient for a visitor. Miami-Dade lists contactless Visa, Mastercard and American Express, along with supported digital wallets including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.
Some non-US cards may not be accepted, so carry another payment option. Keep your chosen method ready before boarding. If you prefer a transit ticket or cash, check the current operator instructions and prepare the fare before joining the line.
One contactless method per passenger.
Repeated taps with the same card or device do not pay for several riders. Each passenger needs a separate valid payment method. Arrange this before boarding if the group normally shares one card.
The MIA Mover ride is free. The $2.25 is the regular bus fare, not a charge for the airport people mover. A taxi or ride-app price is normally for the vehicle, so compare the complete cost for your party.
05 / Taxis, ride apps & transfers
Go directly to the hotel, with the right pickup plan.
A direct vehicle can save the trip to Airport Station and the bus wait. Compare the actual pickup, vehicle size and total price before choosing.
Licensed taxi or ride app
Official taxis wait on the arrivals/ground level outside baggage claim. Use the signed taxi line and ask the uniformed dispatcher for assistance or an accessible vehicle.
MIA lists ride-app pickups on both Level 1 arrivals and Level 2 departures. Follow the level, location and door number in your app. Check those details before walking outside.
Miami-Dade has removed the old airport taxi flat-fare zones. Metered pricing applies. Ride-app fares are live quotes and can rise during busy periods; confirm the destination and vehicle before requesting.
Prebooked private transfer
A transfer can provide a planned meeting point and a vehicle selected for your group. It is particularly useful for several large cases, a late arrival or specific mobility needs.
- Confirm the exact hotel address and complete price.
- Check passenger and luggage capacity, including any stroller or mobility equipment.
- Request and confirm a suitable child seat or accessible vehicle when needed.
- Read the flight-delay, waiting-time and cancellation terms.
Do not assume flight monitoring, unlimited waiting or special equipment is included unless it is confirmed for your booking.
How the taxi meter works
$2.95 for the first one-sixth of a mile.
$0.85 for each additional one-sixth mile up to one mile.
$0.55 per additional one-sixth mile after that.
$0.40 per minute of waiting time.
$15 minimum for trips starting at MIA.
$2 airport origination fee; applicable tolls are extra.
Authorized SUV and van taxis displaying the county decal can add a 30% surcharge above the meter rate. It does not apply when a wheelchair-accessible taxi serves a wheelchair user. Miami-Dade lists no separate charge for extra passengers or baggage.
Confirm the applicable charges before setting off. The final total depends on distance, waiting and your hotel location; an old flat-fare chart is not a current quote.
06 / Choose your Miami Beach stop
Start with the hotel address, not just “South Beach.”
Miami and Miami Beach are different destinations. Miami Beach itself stretches well beyond one bus stop, so check the neighborhood and walking distance before choosing Route 150.
- Mid-Beach and the 41st Street areaCompare stops around 41st Street and Alton Road, then check the walk to the property.
- Collins Park and northern South BeachCompare the current Collins Avenue stops with your hotel’s exact address.
- Lincoln RoadCheck the current Lincoln Road/James Avenue or Washington Avenue stop that best fits the final walk.
- South Beach and South of FifthWashington Avenue service continues toward South Pointe Drive. Choose the stop nearest the hotel, not automatically the end of the line.

Check the final walk before boarding.
Use the property’s full street address in the trip planner. Check which side of the street you arrive on and whether the walk is manageable with your luggage. A hotel farther north may need another connection or a direct car. The former southbound stop at Indian Creek Drive/27th Street has been removed; use the current stop list.

07 / Luggage, families & access
Choose a route your whole party can manage.
The bus can be practical with normal airline luggage. Include the terminal walk, people-mover connection and final street walk when deciding whether the saving is worthwhile.
On the MIA Mover and bus
MIA describes Route 150 as using buses with luggage racks. You remain responsible for your bags. Keep doors, aisles and wheelchair spaces clear, and avoid bringing more than you can move safely through the connection.
MIA lists the people mover and Miami-Dade buses as wheelchair accessible, and the Route 150 page marks the route as accessible. Check current elevator and service information if the trip depends on a step-free path.
In a taxi or prebooked vehicle
Wheelchair-accessible taxis are available on request. Ask the official dispatcher, or prebook a confirmed accessible transfer. Do not assume every waiting car can carry a non-folding wheelchair.
Families should confirm the child seat they need before booking. A normal taxi does not automatically carry the right seat. For a larger party, check that every person and bag fits in the selected vehicle.
Compare the combined bus fares with one vehicle quote, including any authorized large-taxi surcharge. A direct ride can be worthwhile after a long flight or when the hotel is well beyond the bus corridor.
08 / Late arrivals & backups
Check the bus window after collecting your bags.
Route 150 generally runs about every 30 minutes. Check the current airport-to-Miami Beach timetable for your travel day, including the first and last departures from Miami Airport Station. Holiday schedules and service changes can affect the times.
If the bus has finished or the wait is long
- Check the next Route 150 departure from Miami Airport Station, allowing time to reach it from the terminal.
- Compare the live bus arrival with the current ride-app quote or official taxi line.
- If no practical bus remains, use a licensed taxi, the app’s designated pickup zone or your confirmed transfer.
- Use official airport pickup arrangements. Ignore unsolicited offers of transport inside the terminal.
The last bus leaves the station.
Route 150 is not a 24-hour service. A flight landing before the final departure does not mean you will reach the bus in time. Immigration, bags, the terminal walk and MIA Mover all take time.
Holiday schedules, route changes and traffic can affect the plan. Use the live timetable and the app’s current pickup instructions rather than relying on an old airport-hour summary.
09 / Common mistakes
Eight assumptions to avoid.
Check the boarding point, payment method and actual hotel location before committing to a route.
- Waiting at the passenger-terminal curb for Route 150 instead of taking the MIA Mover.
- Following old Route 150 instructions through Earlington Heights.
- Treating Miami and Miami Beach as the same destination.
- Boarding without checking whether the hotel is in Mid-Beach, South Beach or farther north.
- Trying to pay for several people by repeatedly tapping one contactless card.
- Using an obsolete taxi flat fare or overlooking an applicable vehicle surcharge.
- Assuming a late flight will leave enough time to catch the final bus at Airport Station.
- Accepting an unsolicited ride inside the terminal instead of using the official pickup arrangements.
10 / Frequently asked questions
A few final answers.
Use the official sources below to check the current route, fare, pickup details and access information before traveling.
What is the cheapest way from Miami Airport to Miami Beach?
Take the free MIA Mover to Miami Airport Station and board Route 150 Miami Beach Airport Express. The regular bus fare is $2.25 per person. Check that your hotel is near a useful stop before choosing it.
Is Route 150 direct from the airport terminal?
It starts at Miami Airport Station, not the terminal curb. Take the free MIA Mover from Level 3 to the station, then follow signs to the ground-level bus bays on the west side.
Can I tap a bank card on Route 150?
Yes. Supported contactless Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards and mobile wallets are accepted. Each traveler needs a separate valid payment method; repeatedly tapping one card does not pay for multiple riders.
Does Route 150 have room for luggage?
MIA describes the service as using buses with luggage racks. Keep your bags under control and accessible spaces, aisles and doors clear. Include the terminal connection and final walk when deciding whether the bus suits your luggage.
Is there a flat taxi fare from MIA to Miami Beach?
No. Miami-Dade removed the old flat-fare zones. The meter applies, with a $15 minimum for trips starting at MIA and applicable fees and tolls. Some authorized SUV or van taxis add a 30% meter surcharge; the wheelchair-user exemption applies.
What should I use after the last bus?
Use the official taxi line, a ride app from its designated pickup level and door, or a prebooked transfer. Route 150 does not operate 24 hours, so check the last departure from Airport Station and leave time to reach it.
